Orphanage
Placement
Our programs seek to address the numerous problems
that many children without proper education, health care,
food, love and attention face as a result of their
parents not being there for them.
Orphans everywhere need care and volunteers will be
placed in rural environments where they will teach,
love and care for these less fortunate children.
Volunteers will have the opportunity to teach,
design and organise activities and events to
inspire and develop the children's talents and
abilities through human interaction and care.
This program will also give volunteers an
opportunity to explore and understand the
Ghanaian people and their culture.
Basic information
We are currently working with four orphanages which
are spread throughout several regions of Ghana. We currently
work with two in the Western region, one in the Volta region,
and one in the Eastern region.
The orphans ages vary from 6 months to 18 years, but the
average age that you will work with is 6 to 9 years. The education
of the children varies depending on where you are, but slowly
their English is improving with the help of foreign volunteers.
The food and water situations also vary between orphanages, but some
being as hard hit, as not being able to afford bread. While others
have no running water, or even drinking river water. This situation
is gradually being resolved with the ongoing support of foreign
volunteers.
The children benefit greatly from volunteers care and attention,
and combined with the money which is provided when you volunteer
the children are slowly moving into a better life.
